Angel Islington Apartments

Satish Jassal Architects has been appointed to convert a former clinic into a residential development in Angel, Islington, delivering six two-bedroom apartments in a highly accessible and vibrant urban location close to Islington Green.

The project involves adding four additional storeys to the existing building, transforming it into a contemporary apartment scheme while responding sensitively to its proximity to the Angel Conservation Area. The massing has been carefully developed to minimise visual impact on key views and the surrounding townscape.

The architectural approach is defined by a series of vertically expressed, tapering piers that articulate all elevations of the building. Between these, oak-framed windows, doors, ventilation panels and balconets provide rhythm and depth, creating a refined and cohesive façade.

This project demonstrates how existing buildings can be adapted and extended to unlock residential capacity in central London, delivering high-quality homes while respecting heritage context.
