A new house on a former garage site

We have designed a two-bedroom house on an existing garage site in Tottenham, adjacent to a semi-detached house. The design steps back in height and plan from the neighbouring properties to reduce the impact on their gardens. The ground floor is constructed from Sawtooth Staffordshire blue brick, with oak windows and doors. The first floor is an oak-clad pod which sits onto the brick base. A central courtyard and stepped terrace provide light, air, and amenity to the lower level. It is an example of how a small, constrained site can be creatively turned into a new home.
